Instructions for Oyster Shell & Grit

Offer both free-choice in separate dishes next to the feeder, never mixed into feed, so hens can self-regulate intake of each. Refill the oyster shell sooner if eggshells start turning thin, soft, or easily cracked, a sign the flock needs more calcium.

Grit needs less frequent topping off: layer and grower birds (8+ weeks) go through about 1 lb. per bird per month, and actual intake varies by breed, season, and how much the flock free-ranges. Keep both dishes topped off rather than rationing them, and store both bags in a cool, dry place.
