Chickens don’t have teeth—so grit is essential. It allows birds to “chew” & break down their feed naturally, improving digestion and nutrient absorption for better health & consistent egg production. Mile Four Grit is made from 100% natural quartzite, a hard, pure rock that helps grind food efficiently in the gizzard. Leave grit out at all times in a separate dish or feeder, never mixed into feed. Chickens/chicks eat only as much as they need and won't overeat.

As a rough guide, layer and grower birds (8+ weeks) go through about 1 lb. per bird per month, while starter chicks (0-8 weeks) use closer to a quarter pound each; actual intake varies by breed, season, and how much the flock free-ranges.
