Why Buy

Mile Four Organic Chicken Feed is grown & milled fresh on small U.S. family farms. Each scoop delivers a balanced mix of 18% protein, vitamins, & minerals that help hens lay rich, golden-yolked eggs with strong shells. Healthier chickens lay better eggs—it’s that simple. You’ll see it in their feathers, their energy, & their confidence. Best for Grower chickens aged 8-20 weeks old.

Key Features:

  • USDA Organic & Non-GMO: Made from 100% organic, Non-GMO ingredients grown on small U.S. family farms.
  • Better Eggs, Naturally: Deep golden yolks, sturdy shells, & steady egg production from organic, nutrient-rich ingredients.
  • Happy, Healthy Chickens: Shiny plumage, bright combs, & active, confident hens—all fueled by clean, fresh feed.
  • Three Feed Types: Whole Grain for texture, Pellet for less waste, & Mash for fermenting.
  • Easy to Carry & Open: Sturdy feed bags with built-in handles & an easy-pull string make pouring simple & mess-free.
Instructions for Use

Feed Grower Feed as sole ration from 8 to 20 weeks of age, alongside clean, fresh water at all times. Best offered with Grower Grit free-choice in a separate dish, never mixed in. Fermenting the Mash or Whole Grain unlocks natural probiotics and helps the feed go further. Store in a cool, dry place in an airtight container. At 20 weeks, switch to Layer Feed.

How to Transition Feed by Age:

  • Starter Feed
Begin with 100% Starter feed, which is high in protein to support early development. Around Week 7, start mixing 75% Starter feed + 25% Grower feed for a few days. Gradually adjust the ratio, reaching 100% Grower feed by Week 9.

  • Grower Feed
Keep pullets on 100% Grower feed to support muscle growth & steady development. At Weeks 19-20, introduce 75% Grower feed + 25% Layer feed to help their bodies adjust to increased calcium levels. Increase the Layer feed portion until reaching 100% Layer feed by Week 21.

  • Layer Feed
Once chickens begin laying eggs, switch to 100% Layer feed, which contains added calcium for strong eggshells. Supplemental Grit & Oyster Shell can further support shell strength.

  • Oyster Shell & Grit
Serve Oyster Shell and Grit in separate small containers, placed near the feeder but never mixed into the feed. Chickens will eat Grit as needed to aid digestion & Oyster Shell to boost calcium for stronger eggs. Refill weekly & keep both dry & accessible at all times.

For a smooth feed transition, adjust the mix gradually, monitoring flock’s appetite & digestion. A balanced chicken diet at every stage ensures healthy growth, optimal egg production, & strong immune function.

This organic feed is highly favored by chickens, with customers reporting healthy, thriving flocks and superior ingredients. "Chickens love it" and show excellent growth and feather quality. Main concern is the premium price point, though many feel it's worth it. Some note powder/dust waste and occasional preference issues when switching from pellets.

Ours love this food as well!

Our adorable group enjoys this food ('grains') as much as it has enjoyed their Starter food. I still give them fermented grains but a few seem to prefer the dry version. They are also getting some greens and fruit and enjoy it.

Hi there! We are so happy to hear that your adorable group of chickens is loving our Grower Organic Chicken Feed. It's great to know that they enjoy both the dry and fermented versions. Keep up the good work with providing them with greens and fruit as well. Thanks for being a loyal customer!

So excited

So excited to introduce this to my pullets. They have been wasting their mash so the pellets will be perfect. Love the ingredients, especially the fact that there is NO corn or soy.

Great product!! Chickens LOVE!

My girls absolutely love scratch & peck mash feeds! They were on a pelleted food before and just kicked it all over the place- with this there is no waste. We added new chicks in to our flock so that’s is why everyone is on grower currently. We use layer also and the hens go crazy for it. Highly recommend this product!!! Awesome company that makes amazing quality foods for your backyard friends.

Excellent, High Quality Feed.

If you are interested in providing your cluckers with high quality care, put this item on your shopping list.Enclosed with the product is detailed information on every single thing in it, it's organic certification, and the milling date on which it was packaged. You know precisely what you (and your birds) are getting - and this is the Good Stuff, indeed! Definitely worth the money. I've seem many chicken feeds that are loaded with so much ground corn as a "filler" that I might as well just purchase the inexpensive corn because the feeds are mostly corn in the first place. This isn't the case here - it's entirely the higher quality seed mix - so you can buy a bag of corn for very little cash outlay, add a little to this quality mix, and end up actually spending not much more than what you're probably spending on most of the mixed feeds that are generally available....In short, the chickens and I are all extremely happy with this stuff!

Chicken approved.

So far, I blend my chickens the crumbles, free choice, and I ferment this one and ration it too them in the morning with their other morning goodies. They get excited about it and its just normal food with the stuff they need, but they look at it like a special treat. It's terrific.I enjoy that it's organic, and seems new with good ingredients. I will continue to buy this for my flock. It is a little pricey, but I guess it's the price of quality Birds thriving.

Good product, expensive.

So far, It seems nice to me and I like the ingredients. The chickens seem less enthusiastic about it, but they eat it. They were raised on pellets and they adore the pellets most. These chickens were raised on just pellets and are not enthusiastic about most crisp foods. They seem to be laying well on it, but it's also spring and the day length is increasing. It's just so expensive. I was afraid to drive in the snow, but I will now buy chicken food locally. The organic ones here are crazy expensive, and the cheaper ones aren't just not organic, they have crappy ingredients Happy flock.

Honestly, Am finding this to be an stellar pullets mix. The little ones are athletic, their down/feathers, fluffy/shiny. Apparently easy on the digestion as I’ve encountered no issues whatsoever. Purchasing again Would buy again.
