Instructions for Use
Feed Starter Feed as sole ration from hatch to 8 weeks of age, alongside clean, fresh water at all times. Best offered with Starter Grit free-choice in a separate dish, never mixed in. Fermenting the Mash unlocks natural probiotics and helps the feed go further. Store in a cool, dry place in an airtight container.
How to Transition Feed by Age:

Starter Feed
Begin with 100% Starter feed, which is high in protein to support early development. Around Week 7, start mixing 75% Starter feed + 25% Grower feed for a few days. Gradually adjust the ratio, reaching 100% Grower feed by Week 9. -
Grower Feed
Keep pullets on 100% Grower feed to support muscle growth & steady development. At Weeks 19-20, introduce 75% Grower feed + 25% Layer feed to help their bodies adjust to increased calcium levels. Increase the Layer feed portion until reaching 100% Layer feed by Week 21. -
Layer Feed
Once chickens begin laying eggs, switch to 100% Layer feed, which contains added calcium for strong eggshells. Supplemental Grit & Oyster Shell can further support shell strength. -
Oyster Shell & Grit
Serve Oyster Shell and Grit in separate small containers, placed near the feeder but never mixed into the feed. Chickens will eat Grit as needed to aid digestion & Oyster Shell to boost calcium for stronger eggs. Refill weekly & keep both dry & accessible at all times.
For a smooth feed transition, adjust the mix gradually, monitoring flock’s appetite & digestion. A balanced chicken diet at every stage ensures healthy growth, optimal egg production, & strong immune function.

I just opened my 1st bag of Mile Four starter feed. It looks & smells just fine to me. I read many reviews before purchasing, and some of them were complaining about how it was mostly dust, and that it had an off smell to it. Yes, there are fine particles, but to state that it's mostly dust is just plain inaccurate. In regards to the smell...it smells like quality feed. It's loaded with grain, there are some bits of corn (which is fine by me), and some occasional sunflower hull. I'm really happy I made the decision to buy some. Hopefully the chickens will be happy too. In a month or so if I can, I'll add to this review my experience using up (2) 23lb bags. My 1st impression is a 5 star.

I started our chicks on this from day 1 of their eating journey. I started fermenting the starter mash within their 1. week. As they got bigger, I also ferment the whole grain starter. They love this food and thrive on it. Maybe they love us even more because of this food?

I started to notice that some of my flocks eggs were a little softer than when they first started laying and i read online that it might be because they have a calcium deficiency. Purchased some of this and within a week their eggs were stronger and omg i really think you can taste the difference. They've also started to lay on a more regular basis, so i definitely think there was less calcium than they needed in their diet. overall very happy and i'll buy more when i run out!

I was shopping around for non-GMO, organic chicken feed, and happened upon Mile Four (someone I follow on Instagram uses it!), so I ordered some. Just gave it to my chickens and they LOOOOVE it. I was shopping around, because I was at first feeding my chickens DuMore (TSC) but i wanted to move to a non-GMO feed, so then I started giving them Small Pet Select, but they would eat all the bells and whistles in the feed, but leave all the pellet. So, then I found Mile Four. I don't even see any pellet in the feed, it is awesome looking and my chickens LOVE it. Also, not only are they non-GMO, but also Organic. Love them, and i'll be doing the subscription order so i can save 10%! Would highly recommend!

My chickens love the 16% corn and soy free feed from Mile Four and I'm getting this send fresh every other week! I had been getting my feed from a local producer but I had to drive 35 mins one way monthly and pay via check. Now this shows up (in bags I can actually lift) every 2 weeks. Easy peasy. 12/10 have recommended to friends and would to anyone.
